Firefighters to start industrial action

Peter Dominiczak
7 Aug 2009

Firefighters in London are to take industrial action starting next week in a dispute over changes to their conditions of service.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union in the capital say there has been a "sustained period of aggression" by managers. Talks broke down this week.

Brian Coleman, London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority chairman, called the announcement disappointing but said a full fire and rescue service would still be provided.

CAN LABOUR SAY WITH ANY CONVICTION THAT THEY WILL NOT PRIVATISE PUBLIC SERVICES WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF ASSET CO TO COVER FOR FIREFIGHTERS! WONDER WHICH GREEDY MP'S ARE RECEIVING BACK HANDERS FOR THIS BREECH OF SOCIAL VALUES.

They are not going on strike, just removing goodwill like overtime. Is Brian Coleman wanting them to go on strike so he can use Asset Co pretend firefighters? well he has been wined and dined by Asset Co and awarded them a £12 million contract for"firefighters"

I am a postmen and the exact thing is being done to the fireman.

The public have no idea with the bullying of implementing duties and conditions. All the reports from the royal mail will say what the public want to hear.

If you was told you HAVE TO WORK bank holidays and weekends for no extra money and totally unrealistic deadlines so, that would mean u would have to work boxing day.

What would you all do????

'Ere we go, more strikes.

At the end of every Labour 'government' we get loads of strikes so that the unions can improve their lot before the others get in.

And this from firemen who are too scared to go in water to rescue people drwoning (in 18" for goodness sake0

Are they men or mice, cheese anyone??

Firefighters to take industrial action.

Postal workers to take industrial action.

4,000,000 currently unemployed.

Millions of NEETS doing nothing worthwhile.

What an absolute deplorable state the UK is in.

What is your MP doing to improve peep's lives in the UK?
(Sorry, the ONLY thing your MP is concerned with is their obscene expenses and how they can possibly manage to shake off boredom throughout the next THREE MONTHS languishing on some exotic foreign beach).
