Rail clerk gave himself £4,000 in free travel

Ticket clerk at King's Cross railway station today admitted helping himself to £4,000 of free travel.

Stingray Dussan-Cabrera, 20, issued travel cards to himself and his girlfriend. He was caught using a fake £359 ticket to travel first class from London to Warrington in January. Investigators found he had also given himself an "all zones" card.

Detective Inspector Terry Pearce said the fraudster's unusual name contributed to his downfall because "it stuck in the minds of the rail staff."

Cabrera, of Rotherhithe, admitted one count of attempted fraud, two counts of fraud and one count of false accounting at City of Westminster magistrates' court. He was sentenced to 10 weeks' imprisonment, suspended for a year, and ordered to pay back £4,000.
