Mira Bar-Hillel and Peter Dominiczak14 Aug 2009
The line-up of architects who will design new central London stations for Crossrail has been announced.
Crossrail managers had faced rumours that the £16 billon project could be cancelled if the Conservatives won the next General Election, but today they announced the full list of engineers and architects in a bid to end questions about the project's future.
When completed, Crossrail will stretch from Maidenhead to Shenfield and Abbey Wood, linking Heathrow with Oxford Street and Canary Wharf.
The Crossrail Paddington station will be designed by Scott Wilson and Weston Williamson, Bond Street by WSP and John McAslan & Partners and Tottenham Court Road by Arup and Atkins with engineer Hawkins Brown.
Scott Wilson will also work on Farringdon with Aedas, while engineers Mott MacDonald and architects Wilkinson Eyre will design Liverpool Street.

Phil Jones - Without Crossrail Bankrupcy is even more likely as international companies move to countries where their employees can get to work thanks to decent provision of public transport.
Crossrail is capital investment but with a couple of ex public school bufoons in charge what would they know about this ?

The Tories will be cancelling this as soon as assuming office. A huge tab. The U.K. is facing bankruptcy, and desperate measures will have to be taken by the Tories to avoid it.

Anyone cancelling this project for what the second, third, time I honestly lost count but they would be fools to cancel it again.
