More than 40 greyhounds are still homeless a year after Walthamstow Stadium closed and are in kennels.
The dogs were assigned to one of the 12 race track trainers and lived at kennels until the stadium held its last race in August last year.
Johanna Beumer, who has been rehoming retired greyhounds for 43 years, said: “Greyhounds make wonderful pets. There is no comparison with the dog you see racing around the track with the dog going home with you, who is a real couch potato and a softy.”
Prospective owners can visit Whittingham Kennels near Waltham Abbey to see the dogs. Louise Clark, from the kennels, who has two greyhounds of her own, said two 20-minute exercise sessions a day were enough to tire out greyhounds.
