Boris Johnson will become the first solo male to appear on the cover of Elle magazine.

He will appear on the cover of a special 100-print run edition to coincide with London Fashion Week later this month. The Mayor also wrote the Editor's letter for the edition.

Mr Johnson is among 25 famous names commissioned to produce 25 poster designs which will be displayed on the London Underground later this month.

Five of these designs have been made into limited edition covers – by designers Burberry, Pringle, Paul Smith, Antonio Berardi and Rob Ryan.

These will be available to buy in WH Smiths and Selfridges as The Lily Allen cover has been used as the main edition – she was shot along with the main magazine interview.

The Boris Johnson cover will be produced as a very limited edition run, and the issues will be distributed at key London Fashion Week shows – Boris has also written the editor's letter of the issue.

The Mayor is only the third man ever to appear on the cover and the only to appear on his own. The two previous men to have adorned the Elle cover are Ewan McGregor and Liam Gallagher, who appeared with Renee Zellweger and Patsy Kensit respectively.

Boris Johnson's Editor's Letter appears in the October issue of Elle Magazine, on sale Wednesday 2nd September

While route 521 passengers are forced to stand (some in the pouring rain as the new dinky buses are to small) in BOJO Cattle Trucks all Boris can do is appear on magazinne covers.

Goes to show how little Boris cares about running London and more about his own ego trips!! - By taxi naturally..
