Downing Street says all “relevant” correspondence with the Scottish administration is being made public in the interests of transparency. However, they amount to a dozen or fewer and do not go back further than summer 2007. No correspondence with Tripoli or minutes of meetings with Libyan officials are being released.
Why did Gordon Brown discuss the release of Megrahi before an application was put in?
The Prime Minister held a discussion about the prospect of a release at the G8 in Italy on 10 July, at a meeting with Muammar Gaddafi that lasted 45 minutes. But it was not until 25 July that the Lockerbie bomber's legal team asked for him to be released on compassionate grounds. The dates suggest a political dimension to the application.
What message did Gaddafi receive from Mr Brown?
The Prime Minister said in an FT interview today that he “made absolutely clear” to Colonel Gaddafi that it was “a matter for the Scottish Executive … and their decision alone”. But could Gaddafi have interpreted this as an assurance that London would not oppose or obstruct a release on compassionate grounds?
Why did Gaddafi's son Saif say the Megrahi case was “on the table” at trade talks? And why did Colonel Gaddafi thank the British Government for its part in the release?
Both statements contradict No 10's insistence that there was no link between Megrahi's case and oil deals and that London played no part in the release.

in my opinion Brown, Mandeslon & Straw have deliberately engineered & planned a damaging rift between the UK & USA to further Mandelson's wider (Blairite's) appeasement of the EU at the expense of NATO
All of those individuals want an ever closer tie with Europe,..(which really amounts to snivelling, grovelling & toadying to the crypto-fascist, faceless Brussels elite).
The general public see,/suffer a malicious, planned, daily erosion of our Sovereignty. Sly devious underhand, Stealth EU laws being enacted,.other laws being allowed to be openly broken with a view to bring us Brits into line with other EU muppet,/puppet states. (eg.cannabis legislation).

The EU wants a European Army,/rapid defense force,..and to be rid of the NATO millstone. This Lockerbie fiasco will be the death throws of it
In fact, the EU Army is yet another ruse for German,/EU Quisling placemen to allow a greater German military presence around Europe
