20 killed by flash floods in Istanbul

More than 20 people have been killed and dozens stranded in vehicles and rooftops as flash floods hit Istanbul today.
Floodwater in one district of the Turkish capital rose more than three feet, inundating a major road between the city, its airport and the main route to Greece.
The death toll was rising today as floods battered other parts of north-west Turkey. More rain was forecast today.
Istanbul firefighters recovered seven bodies today at a lorry park in the suburb of Ikitelli.
Television footage showed trucks crushed against each other, while seven other bodies were recovered outside a textiles factory in the nearby district of Halkali.
Hikmet Cakmak, Istanbul's deputy governor, described the scene at Ikitelli as a "disaster".
