Boris Johnson has waded into the row over the release of the Lockerbie bomber calling it “crazy” and “mysterious”.
The Mayor said the decision to release Libyan Abdelbaset al-Megrahi would never have been made had he been “in charge”.
Mr Johnson said the move could only be justified if the original conviction was overturned: “It's a complete mockery of justice. It's a betrayal of the victims of the Lockerbie bomber. To have let him out in this mysterious hugger bugger way seems to be entirely baffling.
“It's the single most disreputable and mysterious episode in this Government's recent history.” Mr Johnson made the comments in New York.

Whatever the merits, for and against, the release of the Lockerbie bomber, I would not have thought it was the concern of the Mayor of London. Surely Mayor Johnson has enough to concern himself with on his own patch, I would have thought.

As it is unlikely that we are going to send in a snatch squad to get Mr al-Megrahi back, it has happended so no point in discussing it further.

Obviously Boris has not heard that UK special forces are currently in Libya training their army.
Someone ought to mention it to him, and publish the response. Should be mildly amusing.
