Marcus the pet sheep is dead

14.09.09

The head teacher at the centre of a row about the slaughter of a school pet sheep today admitted that Marcus the sheep dead.

Head of Lydd Primary Andrea Chapman has ignored appeals from parents and pupils — and even chat show host Paul O'Grady— to save the sheep.

She said: “The decision to send the Wether lamb for meat, which has the support of the school council and staff, the governing body and the majority of parents, has now been carried out. One mum, who didn't want to be named, said: “Andrea Chapman will, from this moment on, be a murderer to me.”

I really did think it was unnecessary to put Marcus to sleep as he had been offered a new hom. Why did you not consider the childrens views in this situation. surely it did not matter what age Marcus was. This will always stick in the minds of these children no thanks to the teachers and staff.
