London open for business, says Mayor

15.09.09

Boris Johnson will today continue his New York mission to promote London as a tourist destination.

The London mayor will launch British Airways' campaign at the JFK Airport to promote business travel.

He will then attend an "Only in London" event in Times Square to highlight the capital's attractions, before speaking at a "Think London" reception to promote the 2012 Olympics.

The Conservative politician said he wanted to promote the message that London was "open for business".

"The future for London is spectacularly bright and American investors are spoilt for choice in the range of opportunities that we are offering," he said. "The 2012 games are approaching fast and there is huge investment in the capital's infrastructure, resulting in numerous business opportunities.

"Add to this our diverse social and leisure scene and the message is clear: London is open for business."
