Derren Brown plans to put casino in a spin

17 Sep 2009

Derren Brown is hoping his number is up once more - to win a fortune for a member of the public at a casino.

The illusionist, who claimed to have "predicted" the National Lottery numbers last week, will gamble £5,000 of a TV viewer's savings on a roulette wheel. The viewer will not even know it is their money until Brown calls them on the night of the show.

Casinos will pay out up to £175,000 if the correct digit is predicted, which would be paid to the viewer if Brown is correct.

Derren Brown: How To Beat A Casino - the finale to Brown's current series of stunts - will be screened on Channel 4 on October 2 at 9pm.

He is also attempting to use subliminal messaging techniques in a show to be screened tomorrow in which he says viewers will be stuck to their sofa.

Derren Brown: How To Control The Nation will show viewers a film which he claims will leave audiences unable to move.

He said: "The second show is a piece of media which will be played to the viewing nation that will have the effect of rendering them immobile.

"Not all of them, but it will basically stick a lot of people to their seats.

"It's safe, it won't work on everybody, but it's applying what I do one-on-one with people on stage and turning it into a piece of technology that can then be broadcast - and it has never been done before."

The programme will be shown on Friday on Channel 4 at 9pm.
