Seven held over fake gun in YouTube videos

Justin Davenport, Crime Correspondent
24.09.09

Police have arrested seven suspected gang members over claims they filmed YouTube videos with an imitation gun.

The teenagers were held after detectives trawled through hours of YouTube footage, which is believed to have been filmed on estates in Wood Green and Hornsey.

An investigation by Haringey CID matched the activities of gangs on the street with people in the videos.

Two teenagers, aged 19 and 16, were arrested in connection with the YouTube posting at addresses in Walthamstow and Tottenham.

Three others were seized in raids in relation to gang-related violence. They were being questioned today about a stabbing in Haringey last Friday which led to a multiple shooting in which five teenagers suffered gunshot wounds in Tottenham.

Five other teenagers were arrested in connection with the YouTube postings during earlier raids.
