A Mafia mobster had an unusual method of persuading victims not to refuse his offer of protection — he threatened them with his crocodile.
Antonio Cristofaro, 38, would take businessmen who refused to pay on to his terrace and show them the reptile, right, eating rabbits and mice.
Police who raided his home at Caserta near Naples, heartland of the “Camorra” Mafia, wore protective clothing and called in zoo experts. Cristofaro will be charged with illegal possession of a wild animal.
