iPhone set for Orange and O2 networks

The iPhone will be available on both the Orange and O2 networks by the end of the year, it was announced today.

The long-awaited mobile phone deal was unveiled as Apple's exclusive tie-up with O2 approaches its end. The iPhone 3G and 3GS will start going on sale in Orange and other mobile phone shops, although pricing has not yet been disclosed.

Apple hopes the deal will boost sales of the phone voted this week as Britain's coolest brand. Orange is planning to merge with rival T-Mobile, creating Britain's biggest mobile network with a market share of 37 per cent.

O2 fought hard to win the right to sell the iPhone in the UK two years ago and had sold more than one million by February.

Hopefully Apple will have fixed the enormous problems being caused by the most recent software update by then or everyone'll be switching to Android.
