Microsoft takes on iPhone

Mark Prigg, Science and Technology Editor

Microsoft today launched its own mobile phone software in a bid to take on Apple and BlackBerry.

Windows Phone works on a touchscreen mobile phone and will be available within days. Microsoft has signed up a host of manufacturers, including Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and HTC to make handsets on which it will run.

Microsoft says it wants to appeal to business users who normally buy BlackBerries, and those who prefer Apple's iPhone.

Microsoft does very little real innovation these days. All they really do is buy and mimic, and they're not too great at that either.

Microsoft - last to the party, as usual.

Don't you just love Apple?

You would be better of trying to make a call with a piece of Swiss cheese, less holes than MS!

Actually I think the Swiss cheese is probably a tastier operating system!!

yeah right. It'll be riddled with bugs, hacked to pieces and take twenty minutes to answer a call.

Another FAIL from Microsoft, whatever happened to the Zune player? They've wised up too late and now Google and Apple are stomping all over them. Saying that, I've had so many problems with my iPhone combined with the lack of basic functionality that I'm off to Android as soon as I'm out of contract.
