Suicide bid of nursery perv’s husband
Mark Blunden07.10.09
The distraught husband of nursery paedophile Vanessa George has tried to kill himself with a mixture of alcohol and pills.
Andrew George, 41, who branded his wife “scum” and said he thought of suicide when he discovered what she had done, was found slumped at the home he shared with her yesterday.
Paramedics were called by someone “concerned for his welfare”. It is unclear whether the couple's two daughters Pearl, 15, and Grace, 13, were there.
Mr George's 39-year-old wife pleaded guilty last week to sex abuse and distributing and making indecent pictures of children at Little Ted's nursery in Plymouth, where she worked for several years as a nursery nurse. Co-defendants Colin Blanchard and Angela Allen, both 39, also admitted a series of sexual offences against children and making and distributing indecent images of children.
The three made contact on Facebook. The assaults were recorded on mobile phones and they shared images via email and text messages. They met for the first time last week for their case at Bristol Crown Court and will be sentenced next month. Police said that despite repeated questioning, George had refused to disclose the identities of the children involved.
At the weekend, Mr George begged his wife to say who they were. Speaking to the News of the World, he branded his wife “cold, calculating scum” and vowed never to let her see her own children again. “I would plead to her, tell those parents, all those parents who want to know,” he said. “I would say to Vanessa, If you have a single shred of decency left, do the right thing.'”
He said then he was so shocked and ashamed of his wife's behaviour he had considered killing himself. Gas-fitter Mr George was found yesterday “conscious and breathing” but in need of urgent medical attention. He spent last night in hospital and was today recovering at home.

Knowing people as I do, I would not be at all surprised if we were to find that the public hatred for what his wife had done was not reflected onto him by association. That would account for some of his problem. There would also be a sense of guilt by association on his own part - presumably not having seen "what he should have seen all along".
While I agree, also, that he needs to stay strong for his kids, remember - people do not commit or attempt suicide in such circumstances while they are in their right mind. He wasn't thinking about anything - he was just overwhelmed mentally. He's hit the bottom now, so hopefully he can start working his way back up so that he and his kids can get through this together.

I watched mr george and his daughters on the news at the weekend, really felt for them. I hope they can move on, easy to say, but what came across is they are still a lovely family. I wish them the best for the future.

This is the man who was so revulsed he rushed off to sell his story to the News of the World?

Why aren't the grand parents other family members not keeping an eye on him or more especially the kids? Maybe this was a cry for help but ultimately he must have as his number 1 prioirity the kids. The last thing they need is to find their father dead.

I can sympathise with the revolsion (sp?) this guy feels but I'm sorry he needs to stay strong for his teenage daugters. He needs to remember its not about him its about the effect having a peadophille for a mother has on a 13 year old and 15 year old.
