A man wanted for hijacking a flight out of New York 41 years ago has been arrested after flying back into the city from Cuba.

Luis Armando Pena Soltren was wanted for his role in the 1968 hijacking of a Pan Am flight from John F Kennedy International Airport bound for Puerto Rico.

The plane was redirected to Havana, Cuba. Soltren, 66, was arrested at JFK Airport yesterday and is expected to be charged tomorrow over the hijacking.

US Attorney Preet Bharara said: "As the 1968 charges allege, he terrorised dozens of passengers when he and his cohorts wielded pistols and knives."
