Man crushed to death by car

12 Oct 2009

A man was crushed to death by a car he was working on, police said today.

The man, in his 30s, was found by his wife who went to check on him in Stony Lane, Christchurch, Dorset, just before 6.30am after he failed to return home last night.

She alerted the ambulance service who attended along with fire crews and police but her husband was confirmed dead at the scene, according to police.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: "The man had been working on the vehicle, he had not returned home. His wife went down to where he was working and found him crushed under a vehicle. He was dead."

The spokesman said the man had been working on a white Mitsubishi Shogun saloon car which was registered to the victim.

He added that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was leading an inquiry.

The spokesman said the scene had been sealed off while the incident was investigated.
