President Hugo Chavez has taken control of a landmark hotel managed by Hilton on Margarita island, Venezuela.
Chavez acted after complaining that his government had to ask permission to make arrangements for a summit at the hotel last month.
Hilton said it was "evaluating how the Venezuelan government's action affects its interest in this hotel".
