WPc Fletcher killing: Tories pile on pressure for charges

Justin Davenport, Crime Editor

Tory MPs today called on Home Secretary Alan Johnson to make a statement on claims there was enough evidence to charge two Libyan men in connection with the killing of WPc Yvonne Fletcher.

Frontbench spokesman Henry Bellingham asked Mr Johnson to explain why Scotland Yard had not provided the Crown Prosecution Service with a final case file on the murder after it emerged that a CPS report concluded more than two years ago that there could be enough evidence to charge the Libyans, and advised that police should make further investigations if a prosecution was to go ahead.

A review of the police inquiry by the CPS found that the men played an instrumental role in the shooting of the 25-year-old outside the Libyan embassy in 1984.

Oil is money and money talks louder than justice. There is no way these two men will ever be brought to justice, so forget it.

Why is our government doing nothing to prosecute these filthy murderers?
