Tracey Emin reveals her poetic soul

Artists and writers team up for poetry marathon

Artists including Gilbert and George and Tracey Emin will reveal their poetic soul in a two-day marathon at the Serpentine Gallery.

More than 80 poets, musicians and artists are joining in the festival of words at the summer pavilion.

Hans Ulrich Obrist, co-director, said there had been a long exchange between artists and poets in the past, but links today between the visual arts and dance or architecture were stronger than those with writers. "It seems urgent to reconnect the bridge between poetry and art today," he said.

Artist Tacita Dean will read from the works of Michael Hamburger. Other participants include singer Grace Jones, artist Cerith Wyn Evans, and actress Eleanor Bron.

The event runs from 12.30pm to 9pm Saturday and noon to 8pm Sunday. www.serpentinegallery.org
