Man in court over Jermain Defoe's brother killing

16.10.09

A 34-year-old man appeared in court today to deny the manslaughter of the half-brother of England footballer Jermain Defoe.

Christopher Farley, of Kingswood Road, Leytonstone, east London, is said to have punched 26-year-old Jade Defoe.

Mr Defoe, a rapper, died in hospital four days after the alleged attack in Leytonstone in April. His brother Jermain plays for Tottenham.

Farley, who appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink, was remanded in custody and his trial, expected to last five days, is due to begin on January 4.
