Esther's first step to a new life
19.10.09
TV presenter and campaigner Esther Rantzen opened her own information and advice centre today as she began her fight to be an MP.
The 69-year-old - who made her name through the consumer programme That's Life and was appointed a CBE for her work in setting up the charity ChildLine - opened her campaign from a former shop in Luton's indoor market, where people would be able to meet her and discuss their concerns.
She hopes to become independent MP for Luton South when Gordon Brown calls a general election.
The Labour seat was won in 2005 with a 5,650 majority by Margaret Moran, who is standing down in the fallout from the MPs' expenses row.

Sir, Ms Rantzen knows a hell of a lot about Luton, She is here everyday!!!! and employs people in the constituency.
I suggest you get your facts right and keep out of it, unless you live in Luton. Your vote does not count, and nor your opinion.

Ms Rantzen has proved she will make a good politician, by telling porkies at the first opportunity.
She said she would stand if Margaret Moran stood again. Ms Moran is not standing, but Ms Rantzen's ego has got the better of her and she has decided to stand, even thpough she knows nothing of Luton.
