Nicholas Cecil, Chief Political Correspondent

Energy suppliers which have failed to slash household fuel bills should be investigated by the Competition Commission, MPs said today.

Labour MP John Grogan tabled a Commons motion, backed by more than 50 MPs, for the watchdog to investigate the "big six" firms.

British Gas, EDF, E.ON, Scottish Power and Scottish and Southern cut bills by a fraction of the drop in the wholesale cost of energy.

How many of these are MPs are standing down at the next election and so will not be able to claim these bills on expenses?

- Jim, London

It is patently obvious, that despite Ofgem's claims of being there for the consumer, it is very much NOT, and therefore should be abolished forthwith.
Are you taking any bit of notice MPs, or are you as useless as Ofgem is?

- Ralph, London

Aside from MP's expenses, extortionate home energy bills are the next biggest rip-off in the UK.

WHY are these foreign energy firms allowed to charge peeps in the UK substantially more for their energy than peeps in the EU are currently paying?

Drastic price increases needs drastic measures - I have cancelled my direct debit to E-ON - they can send me a quarterly bill and I will pay what I think it is worth.

WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO, DISCONNECT 25,000,000 HOMES?
