Boris Johnson's winter Games mission
Ross Lydall27 Oct 2009
Boris Johnson today announced he would attend the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in a bid to learn lessons for London.
He hopes London can copy the Canadian city's plans to cut traffic by 30 per cent during February's Games. He is also attracted by its green initiatives.
Mr Johnson, who today met Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson at City Hall, said: "I believe we will learn much from each other's experiences of managing major sporting events and the challenges of running large cities."
Mr Johnson earlier told business leaders about the need for continued investment in the Tube upgrade and Crossrail after a report warned of slower journeys and more overcrowding if government funding is cut.
Business group London First estimated completing the 30-year Tube upgrade would be worth £24billion for Britain's economy.

I take it he will be going standard class with no 1st Class upgrades!!!
I suppose he will return with ideas of building ski lifts accross the Thames in London.

Own up Boris! How many more ODA gravy train riders are going on this taxpayer-funded junket, and just what 'expenses' will they be claiming for? Don't forget that you were elected on a political honesty and integrity ticket, so now would be a great time to deliver.

Good for Boris. He's worked incredibly hard over the last few months and deserves our support in flying the flag for us Brits at the Olympics!

Another jolly for Boris. Of course he will have to attend to learn lessons for London 2012. After all, it will be snowing in London in July 2012, won't it? I wonder if he will be taking the wife and kids.
