Postal union to decide on strikes

Dick Murray
28 Oct 2009

A decision on whether to press ahead with a fresh wave of postal strikes will be taken by union leaders today.

The postal executive of the Communication Workers Union will discuss any progress made in two days of talks with Royal Mail over jobs, pay and modernisation. TUC general secretary Brendan Barber oversaw the talks.

CWU members staged two 24-hour walkouts last week and are due to strike tomorrow, Friday and Saturday.

I heard that the postal workers wanted the courts to prevent the use of new staff clearing up the mess. Is this a hoax; surely the law would not support the union in this way.
Let us hope the couriers get more business too.
Can we have a list of the days staff are working ? My post arrived at 3.00pm today; none yesterday.
