Islamist extremists will march through London tomorrow calling for full implementation of sharia law in Britain.
Supporters of the Islam For The UK group, led by extremist Anjem Choudary, will converge on Westminster for the march, from the House of Commons to Downing Street and Trafalgar Square.
Choudary is a founding member of the British wing of the outlawed extremist group Al-Muhajiroun. Islam For The UK has pictures on its website of British landmarks including the House of Parliament with minarets and Islamic motifs added. It also said Buckingham Palace should be turned into a mosque.
The group calls for an end to liberalism and claims Britain needs to prepare for an Islamic revolution. Choudary is also a supporter of the banned preacher Omar Bakri, who was to give a video-link address from Lebanon to a meeting in Millbank to publicise the rally. Last night the group's website was apparently hijacked by a far-Right group advocating a "guerrilla war".
Patrick Mercer, Tory MP and ex-Army officer, described Choudary's plans as "extremely distasteful". He added: "If anyone thinks those views are a step forward they are seriously deluded. They are repellent and repulsive."
An Islamic Society of Britain spokesman said: "99.999 per cent of Muslims despise these people."

i think this is disgusting, its england! not pakistan or where ever else he may be from. how would he like it if we went to pakistan and did a march through that country, we would all get shot! we wouldnt be allowed to go to a differnt country that doesnt see are views on relgion and build a church. open 100's of differnt take away restaurants and then talk in english. its a disgrace. what has this country become. coz its certainly not for the real british any more!!!!!!

well all i have to say will there be any arrests i think not these people just do what they like they should practice what they preach

The email about this march is going all around the world. However I am heartened to see the comments made by muslims living in the UK giving us their view of events and their efforts to organise a counter march.
It(the Sharia march) will do these people (islamic people) who are trying to live a decent life no good at all but the absolute extreme opposite. These types of demonstrations arouse racial hatred to new heights of fury or should I say depths. It should never have been allowed to take place - what a governmentto allow it! The fall out of this march will, I feel be not be any help at all to muslims everywhere and will only make the situation worse. As a christian I abhor the damage the violent and vocal minority who are full of hate have done to race relations in Britain and, thanks to email all around the world. Most people worldwide wont read this forum they will just think all muslims think the same. The people in the Middle East have suffered terribly(getting blow to bits and wounded in crossfire) and soldiers die every day. I just pray every day for peace in our troubled world -its in the most awful mess.
- Margar, Australia
Is this the same government that banned Michael Savage, the American talk show host? How ironic, that Savage should be banned for exercising his free speech whilest this fringe radical should be given free reign.
- Mark, Illinois, USA
As a Muslim, I'm incredibly embarrassed by these people and their crazy beliefs. The Islamic Society of Britain spokesperson is right: most British Muslims despise them, especially for wrecking inter-community relations at this time.
Will I be counter-protesting? No, mostly because thinking about being in the same spot with them makes me cringe.
That said, I don't see a White Apology group for every chav or drunk I run into when I'm trying to get on with my life, so I hope you all understand. Please accept that every ethnic group has its nutters who are crazy or violent.
- Ahmed, London
Najeeb, thank you for highlighting the views of thousands of Muslims throughout the uk and for bringing to the attention, i hope, to the media the real Muslim view of these people.
Its high time British Muslims stood up for the true values of honest decent muslim people living in the UK.

What Country is this we are living in again.. Ridiculous.

If you do not like the laws of our country please find one that will take you.
- Peter, orpington, england
What a bunch of stupid idiots!! Send them to where they can have Sharia bloody Law without bothering the rest of us!
- 3rd Generation London Born England Loving Muslim, London
Best of it is most naive fools say it's nothing to worry about and it's all just right wing propaganda.
I wonder if the UAF will be there to protest against this disgusting regime? Doubt it, that would be racist eh.....
Whe will the people in this country wake up and act?
- Baldymonster, liverpool
There is a counter demonstration by Muslims against extremism taking place same day, down the road. Of course, no one gives it any publicity because it's easier to write a sensationlist story about a marginalised group of wackos. These morons are laughed at by any serious Muslims - whatever their political hue. Even radical Muslims think Al-Muhairoon are a joke.
- Najeeb Khan, London, UK
Why should the sane Muslims turn up to protest against the nutty protestors? How many people suggesting that one here turned up to any of the anti-BNP demos? I know I didn't. I'm white and English and I'm not responsible for the BNP any more than the average Muslim is responsible for this bunch of nut jobs.
What these people want is lots of publicity and other people to get angry and in some way blame the 99% of Muslims who don't agree with them i.e. exactly what a lot of the continually angry people on this forum are doing. CONGRATULATIONS - YOU'RE REACTING EXACTLY LIKE THESE PEOPLE WANT YOU TO.
- Stg, Peckham, London
Why isn't this being banned??? If we were to march through London spouting hatred we would be locked up! Come on Britain - what is happening to our country? Get a grip and get rid of these vermin
- Fairby, London
I must of missed something. Last week people were getting on their high horse about freedom of speech for the BNP and quoting Voltaire, no less. Now the same people are complaining about this march. What total hypocrites! The BNP and these guys are cut from the same cloth! Both preach hate and intolerance against those not like them. Both are equally scum! At least the UAF made a stand. What are you hypocrites doing?
- Veritas Noire, Purley
No chance Buckingham Paqlace woudl be used for a Mosque, more likely taken over as the home of a supreme mullah.
- Helen, norwich
Prediction of the week: Vigilantism will have its day. And sooner than the loony-left nutjobs would like.
- Tango Mike, Kensington, London
In Israel with all they have to say against it,the 1.5 million arabs living there have never asked for sharia law,I wonder why?Life in a democratic middle eastern country (The only one)must be paradise.
- David Nigel Braham, Milan Italy
John the Butcher from Soho, is spot on!
We must NEVER allow full implementation of Sharia Law in this country. Enough is Enough.
- Sandy, London
Why do we tolerate these extremists who are working so hard to get the BNP elected.
- Mike M, Bedford England
This march should be banned on the grounds that this group is racist and anti-democratic. If they are opposed to democracy they have no right to use it for their own ends.
- Peter, Harrow, UK
You dont deal seriously with those islamic extremists now, you will never be able to deal without serious loss of human lives in near future. They have vision and that vision is Europe without Christians.
- Alex, London
being a moslem myself , i find it odd how the british government put up with these idiots . majority of them are bleeding this country dry ie. dole money , nhs...etc.
if they dont like it , let them leave...how would they like it if another religion wanted to take over saudi arabia ??
- Muzzi, london
There is an old adage 'when in Rome, do as the romans' , so those clowns wanting sharia law in this country take heed, ie put up and shut up, or get out
- Steve, Chester, england
Put the lot of them on a plane and fly them with one way tickets, to an uninhabited island thousands of miles from civlisation. They can establish sharia law and build as many mosques as they like. The lack of state benefits however could be a problem for them. The UK would be a better place without these ranting, pathetic, fools!
- Luke, Caterham
Why do we have to be insulted? How far would a demonstration go, say in Saudi Arabia, of minority christians demanding european law for the country? We are not a muslim country, we have our laws that apply for our country.
- Edwin, beaconsfield bucks
Rubber bullets, tear gas, batton charges and setting the dogs on them should be the order of the day...please.
- Colin, London
How apt for Hallowen. These cowards haven't the bottle to go and live somewhere else in the World which is unfortunate enough to live under Sharia: much better to sponge off the State here and dream their childish dreams.
- Alan J, London
Scum, i wonder how many are on benefits like Choudary? are they marching to the job center i doubt it, SCUM.
- Steve, England
UK law is not based on religion...any attempts, by any religion, to infiltrate our justice system must be vehemently opposed. Throughout the world there are countries that practice different types of law and if anyone feels so strongly that they must be ruled by their preferred law then it is for them to find an appropriate country to do this in it is not for them to insist that another country overturn centuries of justice for such a small minority. I accept our justice system is not perfect but it is a good system.

Danny - Cause and Effect
Lack of education and hatred = complete ignorance of the issues and tendency to write idiotic statements on comments pages.
And those who blame liberalism for stuff like this - liberalism led to slavery being abolished, universal sufferage (that's voting for Danny), freedom of religion, freedom of press and the defeat of Nazism in the 2nd world war. I'd rather put up with a few idiots like these marching for some stupid issue than the alternative.
- Liberal And Proud, London, UK
These marchers are making a fair point and simply expressing their opinion. As the Archbishop of Canterbury said, it's only right that laws represent the wishes the population of the country - so Sharia law must be increasingly integrated with the existing laws as the British population heads towards having a muslim majority.
There's no reason for the UAF to oppose this demo, because it is a great example of the multicultural diversity of the country.
- I'M No Wacist, Essex
Matt in London I totally concur with your comments. This is a christian country despite what the polls have to say. I don't see any muslim country bending their rules to accomodate christians why should the UK???
- Tobi, London
Islam For The UK should not be taken seriously and groups like the EDL and the BNP only fuel the fire by making these idiots feel they are engaged in a battle. It's what they want!
They watch as Europe prospers and their homelands are still ravaged by war and poverty, ironically because of the very religion they want to enforce on this country. Jealousy can be easily manipulated by religious leaders.
It's time for so called 'moderate Muslims' to condemn these people in public! It speaks volumes that certain groups took to the streets when cartoons of Allah were printed but were noticeably quiet when bombs were set off in New York, London and Madrid in his name
- Paul, London
This is just going to play straight into the hands of the BNP-why is it not stopped on "racial grounds"?
- Harvey N Lawrence, London UK
Why dont these fellow Muslim living in UK protest against the arociteis which are taking place in Afghanistan and Pakistan muslim killing muslim, what is the matter with these Ifidel group.cos thats what they are. We dont want this Sharie law here ,trust me it will never happen, EMPTY VESSELS MAKE MORE NOISE.
- Sorraya, croydon
"99.999 per cent of Muslims despise these people."
However a recent poll indicates that 40% of Muslims in this country want Sharia Law. So that statement doesn't say it all. Don't be fooled by the so called moderates, they have similar aims.
"The group calls for an end to liberalism .."
Would that be the same liberalism that tolerates Islam in a Christian country?
These radicals see a pandering weak ineffective government and exploit that weakness. I wonder how many suicide vests will be on display? Or placards with, "Anyone who says Islam is violent should be beheaded" scrawled on them?
- Frank, Home Counties, England.
I wonder if the Al-Muhajiroun group would be OK with us marching for Christian Law in an Islamic country?
- Paul B, London
These are not mainstream, liberal, moderate Muslims. It's people/groups like this who give normal muslims like myself a bad name. Like the article says they are an outlawed extremist group and the people who are members are clowns. Do not give them lip service.
- Don Raj, West london, England
This is what is so wonderful about democratic free speech. They can march because they can.
- Gary, London
This rotten government will allow the anti british protest to go ahead,it totally exposes their hidden agenda and reveals which side they are really on,and of course who's money they want to keep in the UK.

Mass Immigration = Social and Religious Disharmony.
Short and sweet; extremely accurate, and very true.
They say; as you sow, so shall you reap?
- Mickinlondon, london
It's obvious that those who left the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent to settle here were not so religious in observing their faiths. Particularly at a time 20-40 years ago when there were few places of worship available to them. They were probably moderates and progressives. Now the extremists and fundamentalists offspring kick their parents migration in the face by throwing tantrums and complaining that their parents chosen country is not like the country they left behind.
Choudary must welcome the BNP's rise, and be happy to have single handedly forged the EDL. He and his followers will only be satisfied when Britain has become an authoritarian far right country. He'll only feel he's succeeded I guess when Marshall law is declared and he can triumphantly declare this country racist.
Meanwhile he's happily creating dissent, divide and racism. The goal is for more people and employer's to become very wary of all Muslims, including those who are as tolerant as the rest of us.
Choudary is a man who is only interested in people like him. His beliefs, his lifestyle. Anything else, he doesn't want to know. Sad thing is, and he knows it, not only does he foster bad relations between Muslims and non-Muslims, he is cynically igniting a backlash against all British Asians. That's what makes him and his extremist fundamentalists feel stronger.
- Mark, London
I bet Nick Griffin is pleased
- Tony, London
I hope the police have all their 'Wanted' pictures with them and grab the ringleaders, ready for deportation or imprisonment.
Knowing this socialist government though, I'm not going to hold my breath - I expect the 'Powers-that-be' will want to sit down and discuss it with them....
- Bo, S E London, UK
it is a general popular error that we make that the loudest complainers for a cause or people are the most concerned for its or their welfare.i dont think mr choudary is all that he claims to be.think about it.
- John Mckim, glasgow.uk
Don't take this group seriously. They are tinpot muslims. If they were a football team, they'd be AFC Wimbledon.
- Tim, Surrey
I wonder how many anti fascist protesters will turn up. Someone in the government must have given the go-ahead for this march. Let's see what the police do, if this is a banned organisation why didn’t the police stop it?
- Lee, Hayes middlesex
One problem in all of this is that if 99.9% of the muslims who live in this country detest these protesters, then it ought to be possible for them to get sufficient numbers out onto the streets tomorrow in a counter-demonstration and to show solidarity with their fellow countrymen, or is that too much to ask?
Unfortunatley, I think far too few muslims actually care enough about this country to bother and/or are scared of upsetting extremists because of what could happen to them within their own communities and/or they consider themselves unable to show their distaste as it might be perceived as treachery to muslim brothers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sad but true in my opinion; it's no different to Catholics in Northern Ireland who were afraid to speak out against the IRA and INLA.

I expect they've been given a government grant to finance their ridiculous aspirations.
- Theo, Lambeth, UK
This is a Christian country, if they don't like it kick them out.
Im all for freedom of speech but we are seen as such a soft touch in the world community. They are trying to change the way we live and we let them get away with it, give them free houses and benefits and worry about offending them by flying flags or referring to Christmas.
If they want to live under Sharia law go and do it somewhere else. If they offend our country, religion or soldiers they shuold be kicked out.
It's about time we developed some pride in our country, I'm fed up with the polictians bending over to these people!
This would never happen in America or Australia!
- Matt, London
It won't happen - the current government are hardly going to add another twenty seats to their losses in 2010, and the incoming Tory government wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
That said, I see this for what it is - yet another form of fascism - they have more in common with the BNP than either would like to think - particularly with their attitudes to women, gays, the Jewish community etc.. Yet another reason why neither major party will go near them.
- David, N10
Someone ship this idiot out of the country please?
- Annabel, London
religious freedoms, freedom of speech, and freedom of association do not exempt you from the laws of the land.
if you feel these repellent, backward laws are so important then the choice exists to locate in a land where these laws prevail.
as it is, we value the rights of women, minorities, and other progressive values that move us closer to an equal society. This is far more important to uphold, than the insecurities of a patriachal sect.
- Scotty, London
Well lets hope the Met Police deal with the extremist element in the same way they did with the anti globalisation protests; if this march is being fuelled by a bitter hatred of a country that has been more than accomodating, provided welfare to those that were in need and protected their human rights perhaps they should look elsewhere
- Wallytrader, London
This march is repellent but to be expected in UK 2009. Mind you, 'our' legal system is not exactly setting the best example as far as deterrence of crime is concerned. It's a villains paradise but the honest are sidelined.
- Jon Kent, Hertford. UK
Will the unite against fascism mob be marching along side them!!!
- Kev, London-UK
Haha, took the words out of my mouth. UAF self hating liberals will only protest against white groups, never ethnic minority groups
I agree with one thing Mr Choud says though, we need an end to liberalism
- Lb, London
There is going to be an anti-fascist/anti-islamic counter demonstration supported by ex-muslims, muslims, anarchists, socialists, Iranians and whoever wants to turn up against the fanatics. Your welcome to join us but no BNP/racists allowed.
- Alex, London
This should be seen as an opportunity or the supposedly silent Muslim majority to speak out. If the truly wish to live in a multicultural Britain where people are allowed practice their own religion and that includes Christianity, Judaism and all the other religions they should counter protest at these supposed extremist fermenting religious hatred in their name. Sadly I believe the so called moderate Muslims are quite happy to see these zealots advocating Sharia law as they believe they will quietly get their way. In the end the IRA won much of what they wanted in Northern Ireland through the gun and the bomb. If Islamic extremists are not resisted at some point in the next 50 years Britain will become an Islamic state and we are sleepwalking into it.
- Ian, London
Should be a good chance to highlight & round up the persistant trouble makers/extremists, spouting their stone-age islamic retoric and give them a discounted family one-way ticket back to their spiritual homeland, where they can preach, moan and make specific minority laws all day. English law might not be ideal in all cases, but its the law of this land and we should all abide by it. If you feel you need special dispensation to carry out your life properly, then you're living in the wrong place.
- Carl, London
Kev London, "will unite against fascism march alongside them".spot on, Unite against fascism are a bunch of thugs themselves who have no right to provoke violence and discord wherever they go. Cowards.
- Anthony, uk
If you do not like our laws and culture here in Britain, you have the right to leave at ANY time. Lets get a counter protest up and running as this is not kosher mate.
- John The Butcher, Soho, London
I think the main point here is why the authorities allow as many marches in london as they do. Can somebody give me the statistics as to how many times Londoners have to put up with disruption because (usually) foreigners want to protets about their government/religion/ in far away countries? I'm fed up being diverted for the latest middle eastern protest. They should either be porced to hold their protest in a park (how about somewhere in East London?) oer just be banned. Free speech is for those who are here legally and pay taxes.
- Jon, London
Lets hope they are met with a counter demonstrations as this is unacceptable in Briatin. Where will be the UAF tomorrow? O right, the real fascists only protest at non coloured organizations regardless of how extreme they are.
- Dirk Diggler, Soho, London
I am going to get a protest march going to build Catholic schools and churches in Pakistan and all other Islamic countries - anyone want to join me.....
- Kay, London
I want to march for off licences & sex shops in Islamic countries
- Michael Golding, London
Will the unite against fascism mob be marching along side them!!!
- Kev, London-UK
If you want Sharia law, go and live in a muslim country. Otherwise learn to live by the rules of the country you live in. I am French (country with no official religion)and abides UK rules; do the same!
- Brunolondon, London
Protestors calling for more democracy in the Islamic Republicof Iran are repressed with utter ruthlessness. Supporters of the Islam For The UK group are free to demonstrate in the UK for what amounts to an overthrow of a system of law and governance supported by the majority of the population. One suspects thay would not extend the same degree of freedom to tghe rest of us if they had their way.
Having said that, the introduction of some aspects of Sharia law might do wonders for the UK's crime statistics. Amputation of a few hands would be a huge deterrent to prospective thieves and muggers!
- John C, Leatherhead, UK
It will be interesting to see if the UAF has a counter protest. If UAF is really united against fascism, then they should protest with the same vigour as they protested against the EDL and the BNP because the Islam For The UK group is equally fascist as the EDL and the BNP.
- Steve West, Cambs UK
The Islamic community here in Italy would not try such a thing, they had prayers outside the Milan cathedral a few
months ago,all hell broke lose.
Nobody has the right to change the way of life in a country, stick up for your British rights.
Britian needs a Prime Minister like they had in Australia.
Howard told the islamic community that they are welcome, but if they want sharia law they can go to Indonesia.
God save the queen.
- David Nigel Braham, Milan Italy
Am I not correct in thinking there are enough countries in this world with Sharia Law in place. Why don't these maniacs go there and leave us alone. we don't want your laws in our Country
- Michael Cooper, London
We have British law here. Accept it or leave!
- Gary, Windsor
This country never ceases to amaze me,the government ban people such as Gert Wilder's from even entering the country,They Harris Mr Griffin a elected leader of a party, but are quiet happy to let people such as these who are calling for the over throw of the Government and the Monarchy! From this governments track record it would not be to difficult to imagine they are a sleeper cell for the Taliban!
- Kev, London-UK
When one reads of car thieves in court found guilty of car theft for the 90th time, not under Sharia Law,they would have no limbs left after the second offence, and the ever increasing number of Paedophiles, and rapists, would not be in Government run holiday camps,at our expence, they would be topped, and rightly so.
- Joe, London
I say to anyone who takes umbridge to this spectacle, dont' bother, it ain't never gonnah happen, let them have their day. I wouldnt' take it seriously....! Freedom of speech and all that guff...
- Eeeee, Surrey
This is a wake-up call to the UK of who are living amoungst us and what their motivations are.
I am quite happy for these Islamists to march till their hearts content!. Let's see what support they have and who their supporters are. Meanwhile I would call on all moderate believers who have moved here to escape the tyranny of Sharia Law abroad and those who are born in the UK and value the freedoms of the laws of the UK to speak out against this extreamist group.
I dont know if the majority of Muslims do or do not support these extreamists but if as the Islamic Society of Britain say they do not then they might want to make it as clear as possible by organising a counter-protest?
- Sam, London,UK
Well march right on through to the other side of the channel tunnel.
I am sure we can all clear the way for you!
- Michael, Bermondsey, UK
Aren't these people inciting racial/religious hatred?
- Wilky, london
Ricky - keep up with the programme: Omar Bakri was banned from entering the UK, by The Home Office. Stop whining on about the "injustices" done to the BNP recently - their true colours came out during QT.
Will be interesting to see the police reaction to the protestors. Wonder if it'll be done with the same force and severity displayed during G20?
- Jock, London
You cannot debate with these extremists.
I recall one extremist muslim cleric being asked on TV why he did not go to a country with Sharia Law if he was so intent on having it. His reply? The world belongs to Allah and it was his sacred duty to introduce Islam and Sharia into this and every other country; he was doing Allah's will, he was his vehicle.
- Ramalamadingdong, Broxbourne
Will the 99.999 per cent of Muslims who despise these people be there to voice their disagreement?
- Gwaddilove, London..England
Imagine if westerners held a similar protest demanding UK law be imposed in Saudi Arabia. They would be put in prison and then deported immediately.
If they want sharia law, just go to the countries where it already exists. Simple.
- Robert C, London UK
Calling for shariah law should an anti human rights offence.
These people want to take us back to the dark ages, and worse.
Send them go and live somewhere that already has these dark ages laws.
- Ashgl, London
Nick Griffin with a false beard.
- Fred Maple-Hill, Sweden
We are far to liberal , try holding a march promoting Christianity and outlawing Islam in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan and see how many of the marchers survive!
- John Bull, London
I wonder how many anti fascist protesters will turn up.
- Dave, NW London
Ironically, under islamic rule, such as that levied in Saudi, this march would not be allowed to take place.
- Hansel, London
The laws of this country are not and must never be sharia. I'd like to see a massive peaceful protest to let them know how unpopular and unwelcome their campaign is in the UK.
- Dave, London
How about inviting Omar Bakri on the BBC's leftist showcase: Question Time? Try teaching the audience to practise booing him beforehand. Then get everyone to gang up on him. Then focus all the questions on his hate filled agenda and racist policies.
Somehow, I do not think his many sympathisers at the BBC will ever let that happen.
After all, they believe in a democracy where only their left wing elitist views prevail. Witness the way James Naughtie and David Milibland ganged up together in their set up interview with William Hague on the Today programme yesterday. A signpost to how the BBC are set to support this hated government in the coming election campaign whilst demonising the Conservatives.
