Halloween murders: Man held
2 Nov 2009A man was being questioned today on suspicion of murder following the discovery of two bodies in a house at Halloween.
The bodies of a man - named locally as Kenneth Snell, 62 - and a woman thought to be his girlfriend were found by officers at a property in Brettingham Avenue, Norwich, shortly after 9pm on Saturday.
A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of both murders in the early hours of yesterday morning, Norfolk Police said, and was being held in custody.
Neighbours spoke of hearing two loud bangs on Saturday night, but apparently thought they were fireworks.
Police have not confirmed if the deaths were from gunshots.
Detective Chief Inspector Jez Fry, who is leading the inquiry, said: "It would appear that all the people involved in this incident were known to each other.
"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation."
He added: "Our thoughts are with the victim's families and friends at this difficult time."
Mr Snell was reportedly a retired mobile phone executive, and has three grown-up children.
The Norfolk and Suffolk joint major investigation team is running the investigation into the deaths and forensic experts were combing the house yesterday.
The results of post-mortem examinations on the bodies are due later.
