Spice Girls
Reunion: the Spice Girls during their comeback tour at the O2 last year

Plan to Spice up the Olympics

Emma Rowley
2 Nov 2009

The Spice Girls could reunite to perform at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

After the band enjoyed a lucrative reunion tour, Simon Fuller, the pop svengali who masterminded their success, wants them to reform once more for the Games.

The band's 17 shows at the O2 in January last year made more than £16.5million. And a second comeback could coincide with the Olympics. "I think if they do it, it's going to be in 2012," Fuller said.

Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm and Emma Bunton are said to be keen to reunite but Victoria Beckham has said she will not perform again.

What about robbie and take that now that would be good. Or creating a 2012 supergroup anything but the spice girls.

Poor Victoria, maintaining her delusions of grandeur .....

still, Spice Girls reforming has got to be one of the least tacky suggestions I've heard of for the 2012 games? At least they might make them fun!

Oh great, just when i was beginning to show an interest in the Olympics, they want to torture us with the Spice girls.

Please no....the whole worlds watching and this is the best we can do? Can we not bin the whole Olympic idea and give the Olympics ( and The Spice Girls) to France?

This just about sums-up the complete bankruptcy of
this farce. Five overpaid has-been old trouts - how I
wish they would disappear for good, like the Olympics.

Has VB performed before? Certainly no evidence of her singing or dancing or doing anything on previous Spice girls songs. But seriously, can't we get someone else? There is so much current talent out there from which to select a really good range of artists for the Olympics - but please nothing from X factor!

Is this really the best we can do when the whole world will be watching?
