Car crash

'We're being driven round the bend by cars crashing on our lawn'

The owner of a house in north-west London has discovered an upturned car on his front lawn - for the third time this year.

The driver of the Ford Focus, an off-duty policeman, lost control on the sharp bend outside Roy Redrup's home in Eastcote, near Pinner.

Altogether, it is the fourth accident of its kind; another car somersaulted over a bush and ended in a neighbour's garden.

Nobody was injured in the latest crash when the driver, in his thirties, smashed his vehicle into a wall. The car rolled on to the front lawn of the semi-detached house before coming to a stop. Fortunately Mr Redrup and his wife were not at home at the time.

The pensioner said: "People lose control when they drive around the sharp corner. Cars have ended up in our garden and another somersaulted over our bush and into our neighbour's garden.

"Another time a driver had hit the lamp post outside my house and the light part had fallen on to my car." He said nobody was injured in any of the previous accidents. Mr Redrup, who said the damage will cost about £1,000 to repair, said the couple will write to Hillingdon council to ask for speed warning signs to be placed on either side of the sharp bend.

He said: "I am fed up with this. If they have signs telling drivers to slow down, it will help."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Police were called to attend to a vehicle which had hit a wall in Field End Road. The driver was not hurt. We can confirm the driver was an off-duty police officer serving with Metropolitan Police Service."

The Redrup's are lucky they don´t live near an army training range. That might have been a Chieftan or a Challenger tank!

Just stick a few no parking signs up and charge people to remove their vehicles.Every cloud has a silver lining.

Just goes to show how stupid many motorists are.
