GM to axe 10,000 jobs in Europe

General Motors has said that it expects to axe about 10,000 jobs across Europe as part of its restructuring of Vauxhall and Opel.
The news follows the announcement that the car giant has decided not to sell the brands to Canadian firm Magna.The decision was greeted with cautious optimism among the 5,500 workers employed by Vauxhall in Luton and Ellesmere Port.
Union leaders said redundancies were inevitable.
