Swine flu cases rise to 84,000

An estimated 84,000 people had swine flu in England in the past week — 6,000 more cases than in the previous week, the Health Protection Agency said today.

The Royal College of General Practitioners recorded a fall in the number of people seeing their GP with flu-like symptoms, from 42.8 to 37.7 people per 100,000.
