Children curate 'secrets of the Wallace' show

Child "curators" are bringing a new perspective to one of London's prize galleries.

A dozen nine to 10-year-olds from St Vincent's Catholic Primary School, off Marylebone High Street around the corner from the Wallace Collection, are creating an exhibition expected to be a highlight of its 2010 programme.

They have come up with the show's theme and title, Shhh ... it's a Secret. It will explore secret symbols and stories behind the collection.

The children are in teams with responsibilities from design to finance for the show, which will run from 4 February to 28 March.

Lola Kezunovic, 10, is part of the Press and marketing team with Chelsea Coates, 10. "It's been amazing. They're going to show everything people don't know about the collection," she said. Chelsea said she thought the show would work well "because we know what children want".

The show is among a series of events in other small museums, including Dulwich Picture Gallery and Courtauld Institute. Many include loans of major collections.
