Lotto winners reveal plans for cash

10 Nov 2009

A group of IT workers and a married couple are set to talk about plans for their £45.5 million Euromillions windfall.

Camelot said the winners will hold press conferences to talk about their share of Friday night's £91 million jackpot.

Les Scadding and his wife Samantha Peachey-Scadding from Caerleon, south Wales, are thought to be the seventh set of lottery millionaires to come from Gwent in the last three years, while the winning Liverpool syndicate work for Hewlett Packard and carry out internal IT work and computer support at BT.

The workers were unaware of their staggering win when they turned up for their shift at BT's Royal House centre in Wood Street on Monday.

A company source said: "The lucky people do work in our Wood Street centre in Liverpool. They are employed by Hewlett Packard or by Manpower to do internal IT work, computer support.

"Some of them went to work not actually knowing anything about it. Someone from Camelot turned up and whisked them away."

The holders of the winning tickets have to pass security checks before meeting with a private banker who handles the money transfer and advisers who discuss how to deal with their new-found wealth.

They also advise winners on whether they should go public once the win is confirmed.

The winning couple from Newport will now enter the realms of the super-rich with their huge win.

Their ticket will bestow upon them wealth at the level of celebrities such as DJ Chris Evans, celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and film star Sir Michael Caine, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. Racing drivers David Coulthard and Jenson Button, supermodel Kate Moss, footballer Michael Owen and pop stars Pete Townshend and Sir Cliff Richard are also each worth between £40 million and £45 million, the list says.
