Photograph Naomi Campbell or design ski goggles for 2010 Olympics at ‘ebay for artists’ auction

A new eBay for artists' will let members of the public compete for contracts to photograph Naomi Campbell, design ski goggles for the 2010 Winter Games and remix a Boy George track.

The site, called Talenthouse, lets artists upload a portfolio of their work and enter online contests to win the contracts.

It has already signed up the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Dr Dre, while June Sarpong and Stephen Dorff act as advisers for the site, which has attracted over 30,000 members during its test phase. Today the site was officially launched.

“I'm thrilled to be working with Talenthouse, where artists of all kinds come together to share their experience and collaborate with the next generation of photographers, musicians, artists, designers and film makers,” Naomi Campbell said.

Miss Campbell has already put two requests on the site, one to find a photgrapher for a magazine shoot, and one for a model.

Other items available on the site include a contract with Adidas to design ski goggles, one to create an online video for Dr Dre, and one to create a video ad campaign for Nokia.

“We offer artists exceptional, life changing opportunities, direct access to global brands and to leading icons.” said Roman Scharf, who set up Talenthouse.

“For struggling artists, getting work can be very difficult, so we wanted to create a way to bring artists and brands together,” said Mr Scharf

“There are a lot of very talented creative people out there, but because of their location of a lack of money, often they don't have the opportunities to pitch for these kinds of contracts. What we can do is bring brands and talented artists together,” said Mr Scharf.

“We think it is a unique concept, as for instance when Naomi Campbell wanted to find a photographer, she came to us. Now everybody has the same chance, wherever they are.”

Artists signing up to the site, which is free, can set up their own online portfolio, uploading artwork, videos and other work. These can them be viewed by potential employers, who can also set specific challenges for users.

“Now its in their hands to reshape their industries forever,” said Mr Scharf.
