Affair Tory gets party support

10 Nov 2009

TORY parliamentary candidate Liz Truss who faced deselection over an affair with a Conservative MP won the backing of local party chiefs today.

David Hills, chairman of South West Norfolk Conservatives, said Ms Truss had the association's "full support".

She was selected last month as the next general election candidate for the safe Conservative seat of South West Norfolk which is being vacated by Christopher Fraser.

However, some local Conservatives were dismayed to learn afterwards that she had had an affair five years ago with married London MP Mark Field.

A meeting of the association is due to be held on 16 November to decide whether she should be deselected. Ms Truss has also received the backing of Tory leader David Cameron.

Ms Truss was not up fron with the Norfolk Tories, will she be as honest with the voters, in a region she does not know or care about? The real issue must be did Ms Truss relationship with Mr. Mark Field MP benefit her in the whole selection process in an unfair manner.

Interesting to see how quickly the Tory spin machine mobilised to smear the opponents as the Turnip Taliban with all it's horrible connnotations. Flash should realise that we've just lived through 12 years of this rubbish and we now crave HONEST politics. That's right Dave HONEST politics.
