Sainsbury’s says sorry for Armistice Day game gaffe

Sainsbury's has been forced to apologise to customers after advertising a violent war game over its in-store Tannoy on Armistice Day.
Announcements were made to promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
The game has come under fire from MPs for a scene in which players gun down innocent bystanders. “To make these announcements today is appalling,” said Sarah Modlock, who was shopping at the Lee Green branch. “I asked to see the manager but was told there was nothing they could do as it was a head office matter.”
A Sainsbury's spokesman said: “Some stores made Tannoy announcements today to publicise our offer price for the new Call of Duty game. We have now asked stores to stop making these announcements.”
