Andrew Flintoff and Emma Thompson today backed the new Lord Mayor of London's appeal for under-privileged children.
Nick Anstee's Pitch Perfect project aims to give 75,000 a chance to play cricket and music.
It will try to raise money for the London Symphony Orchestra's On Track education programme in 10 east London boroughs, and for the Cricket Foundation's StreetChance initiative. Actress Thompson said: "Both pursuits have the power to transform lives." England star Flintoff added: "Cricket can teach respect, self-confidence and discipline."
Fundraising events include a dinner led by percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and a celebrity cricket match at Windsor Castle.
