Commuters saved as Virgin strikes called off
Dick Murray, Transport Correspondent19 Nov 2009
Strikes by ticket office staff at Virgin Trains which would have caused travel chaos at Euston tomorrow were dramatically called off this afternoon following a legal challenge.
TSSA union leader Gerry Doherty said he was "disappointed" that would not be challenging the ruling.
"We want to sit down with Virgin to reach a settlement rather than arguing it out in the High Court," he said.
Strikes at five busy stations, including Euston, along the West Coast Main Line were called in protest over changes to working conditions for ticket office staff.

And in the meantime commuters on FCC's Thameslink route have suffered a 50% reduction in services for over a week! However it seems to have dropped off the radar and it no longer mentioned despite people who pay many £1000's each year for their tickets suffering horrendous overcrowding. Allegedly their profitability has gone up during this period! Bring the spotlight onto FCC management and drivers!
