A mother killed in a suspected arson attack on her family home in Dagenham has been named.

Police launched an inquiry after Nattallie Correa, 27, died in the blaze.

Her two sons - Joe, eight, and Luis, seven - were pulled to safety along with her 27-year-old fiance Scott Lindsay, from an upstairs bedroom. They were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Mr Lindsay was later arrested on suspicion of murder.

It is believed the front and back doors of the house had been locked from inside. Ms Correa was pronounced dead at the end terrace house in Lake Gardens, just after 1.15am today.

Firefighters were called to the blaze just before 1am yesterday. A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: "She seemed like a nice woman. It's so sad the kids have lost their mother."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We are awaiting formal identification and a post mortem will be conducted in due course."

Anyone with information should call police on 0208 345 3775 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
