Queen of cookery Delia is made CBE
20 Nov 2009The queen of cookery was honoured by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace today for her work teaching Britain kitchen basics. Delia Smith, 68, was made Commander of the British Empire.
Smith, who was born in Woking, Surrey, and grew up in Bexleyheath, Kent, has sold tens of millions of cookery books.
In her 40 year-career, her ingredient recommendations have led supermarkets to sell out of everything from prunes to eggs.
