Politicians at the centre of the expenses scandal today said they did not know if they would face criminal charges or not.
Elliot Morley, the former Environment Minister accused of claiming for a "phantom mortgage", said he did not know if he was one of four Parliamentarians whose files have been sent to prosecutors. "I have heard absolutely nothing," he said.
Baroness Uddin, a Labour peer accused of milking expenses by listing a little-used flat as her main home, said: "I could not possibly comment."
Potentially, the four could be prosecuted for fraud or false accounting, with maximum penalties of 10 or seven years.
