British doctor 'caught seeking sex with boy, 6'

A British doctor was caught in a sting operation attempting to fly to Alaska to have sex with a six-year-old boy, prosecutors allege.

John Felton, 45, was picked up at Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage having travelled from his US home in Boston to meet a man purportedly offering his son for sexual abuse, it is alleged.

But the "father" whom Felton is said to have contacted through an internet chat room called "littleboysexchannel" was an undercover agent.

Felton, who is now due to appear in an Alaskan court next week, says on his online CV that he is vice president of Boston-based pharmaceutical firm Acambis.

A member of the Royal College of Physicians, he is also an honorary lecturer at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

An affidavit by Kevin Laws, a senior special agent of the US Department of Homeland Security, reveals Felton was arrested on 16 November as he attempted to pick up his luggage.

It follows months of undercover work by the agent during which Felton is said to have believed he was chatting to a man in Alaska who was willing to see his two young children abused.

Under the online pseudonym of Fitladuck, Felton told the undercover officer he was into "mostly boys, 8+", documents claim.

If guilty, he deserves everything he gets - both in terms of sentencing and in the toleration regular prisoners have for such people.
