Anti-guns campaign teen is Local Hero
9 Dec 2009A teenager who campaigned about the dangers of carrying guns and knives after two school pupils were shot dead has received a Local Hero award.
Valerie Okoampah, 15, a student at Gladesmore community school, Tottenham, and a member of Haringey youth council, was honoured at the Woman's Own Children of Courage Awards.

Well done Valarie! At a time when Britain's youth are demonised its nice to see a young person leading the fight back. The armchair racists and reactionaries will dismiss you as your name is "a bit foreign, innit." True Londoners will applaud you and appreciate your efforts. We need more kids like you. Bravo!
