Severed hand husband faces murder court

The husband of mother-of-two Geeta Aulakh who was found dying in a London street with her right hand cut off appeared in court today charged with her murder.

Harpreet Aulakh, 31, of Greenford, was remanded in custody by Feltham magistrates.

Mrs Aulakh, 28, a community radio receptionist, was attacked on her way to pick up her sons, aged eight and 10, from a child minder in Greenford last month. She also suffered head injuries.

Sher Singh, 18, was charged with her murder when he appeared in court last month. Both men are due to appear at the Old Bailey on 1 March.

Another man arrested with Aulakh on Friday has been freed on bail pending further inquiries.
