London drivers fined for leaving old parking tickets in car

Drivers in London who leave more than one parking ticket on their dashboards are being fined — even if they have a valid ticket.
Motorist groups accused councils of being “pernicious” as City of London wardens are allowed to fine drivers up to £120 even if they have “paid and displayed”.
But Barrie Segal, director of Appeal Now, a website that encourages drivers to appeal fines, said this would penalise motorists who forget to throw away their old tickets.
He added: “This type of enforcement is pernicious. It is just old-fashioned greed to line the council's coffers.”
A Department for Transport spokesman said it was to “prevent people from adding a second ticket to extend the time they can park beyond the maximum allowed.”

I think that this is 100% totally out of order, another way for our goverment to make more money out of us. I don't always remember to take old tickets out of my car, and if i ever get a fine because of it I will fight it all the way to court.
You'd think they make enough money out of us car drivers ie. road tax..
