Family shocked over wedding day knife death

The family of a man stabbed to death after attending a Valentine's Day wedding said today they had “no idea” why he had been targeted.

Mark Corcoran, 26, was attacked on Sunday evening close to Crystal Palace football ground hours after the club's FA Cup game against Aston Villa.

He staggered into a convenience store for help but collapsed at the scene. He died as paramedics tried to revive him.

Landscape gardener Mr Corcoran had been at a wedding reception in South Norwood.

Neither his family nor police know why he was near the football ground.

Detectives are calling on anyone who may have information to contact them.

Mr Corcoran's stepfather, Alan Smith, said: “You don't expect someone to go off to a wedding and not come back because they've been stabbed.”
