Feared stalker: Gemma Dorman had reported Vikramgit Singh to police

‘Woman killed by ex-boyfriend as fiancé waited for her’

A woman was stabbed to death by an infatuated ex-boyfriend outside a restaurant as her fiancé waited inside, the Old Bailey heard today.

Gemma Dorman, 23, suffered multiple stab wounds from a seven-inch kitchen knife as she shouted “No” and tried to escape.

Weeks earlier she had complained to the police that Vikramgit Singh was stalking her. He had bombarded her with up to 400 text messages in a week after they split up, the court heard.

Miss Dorman was grabbed as she was going back to the Amazing Thai restaurant in Lavender Hill after getting money from a cash machine.

“This was a brutal attack on a defenceless woman,” said Richard Whittam, QC, prosecuting.

Singh, 25, met Miss Dorman and started a relationship when she worked as an escort girl. But she had found new happiness with businessman Alan Wentworth-Harvey, who was helping her buy a property for a new life in Spain, the court heard.

“It appears as though Singh had become infatuated with her and as a mark of their relationship he had a large tattoo on his back in the shape of a heart with her name,” added Mr Whittam.

“He kept repeating that he wanted to marry her but despite the tattoo the relationship didn't continue and Miss Dorman told him she did not want to see him again.”

The prosecutor continued: “It appeared to her and her mother that Singh was harassing her, stalking her and following her.

“She complained to the police that she was scared she was being followed. A month later her mother made a similar complaint.”

Singh, of Southall, pleads not guilty to murder in July 2008. The case continues.
