Police today appealed for witnesses to a three-car crash in which adventurer Sir Ranulph Fiennes apparently swerved into the opposite carriageway.
Sir Ranulph, 66, the oldest Briton to reach the summit of Mount Everest, was left “dazed” and bloodied following the collision in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Saturday.
His Jaguar hit a Nissan Micra travelling in the opposite direction on the A6, then struck a Ford Focus car before it mounted a pavement and came to a halt near an Italian restaurant.
Sir Ranulph was uninjured but was taken to hospital for treatment. The male driver of the Nissan suffered leg injuries. A five-year-old child in the vehicle was also injured.

He'd just completed a gruelling 42 mile hike in the Peak District. Not bad for a 66 year old!
I do wish him well but he really should have known better than getting behind the wheel immediately after that. He should have been catching up on his sleep with someone else doing the driving.
He could have killed someone (and very nearly did).
