Tony Blair to earn millions as climate change adviser

Sri Carmichael, Consumer Affairs Reporter
26 May 2010

Tony Blair is set to earn millions of pounds advising an American businessman on how to make money from tackling climate change.

The former prime minister will be paid at least £700,000 a year to act as a “strategic adviser” to Khosla Ventures, a venture capitalist firm founded by Indian billionaire Vinod Khosla.

The Californian company bankrolls businesses hoping to profit from technology that helps reduce global warming and carbon emissions.

Mr Blair secured the job thanks to his “influence” and high level international contacts, whom he will be expected to lean on to open doors.

He has told friends he needs £5 million a year to fund his lifestyle.

Khosla Ventures confirmed it was hiring him, but declined to confirm his salary, which was estimated by industry sources.

Khosla said that “with Tony's advice and influence we will create opportunities for entrepreneurs and innovators to devise practical solutions that can solve today's most pressing problems."

In a statement yesterday, Mr Blair said: “Solving the climate crisis is more than just a political agenda item; it's an urgent priority that requires innovation, creativity and ambition.”

He has taken up several lucrative posts since leaving office three years ago. He has a £1 million deal to advise the ruling royal family of Kuwait and has been paid a £4.6 million advance for his memoirs.

Public speaking engagements, which earn him £100,000 a time, are estimated to have brought in another £9 million.

1) There was first in the 1970's the global cooling scam (see e.g. Newsweek April 28 1975 on the Internet); the government-paid scientists (90% of them are rejects of private enterprise) recommended to fight the new ice age by sending our war planes to cover the polar ice with soot in order to increase solar heat and so prevent crushing of New York skyscrapers by the new glaciers;
2) When that did not work we had the global warming hoax in the 1990's, proclaimed by mainly the same government-paid scientists (Dr. Hansen of the NOAA, for example); to prevent the massive heating, fires, flooding of coastal cities, disappearance of Florida, California, and Caribbean islands, massive hurricanes, global famine, and other catastrophic events we should nationalize oil and gas and coal and electricity companies;
3) after 11 years of considerable cooling we are now faced with the climate change flimflam where whatever happens with our climate we should nationalize oil and gas and coal and electricity companies; and why not our banks, car and insurance companies while we are at it. To prevent this catastrophe the best vehicle presumably is international agreements enforced by the United Nations world government.
As for the influence of carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas: on a normal day the atmosphere contains 20,000 ppm (parts per million) of water vapor and about 300 ppm of carbon dioxide. The government-paid scientists say that an increase of 100 ppm of CO2 over the next 50 years

Tony, haven't you heard? There is no more money in America...it's all gone because Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and Anthony Cuomo working in tandem with Barack Obama representing ACORN spent it all in a ponzi scheme called redistribution of wealth aka "subprime loans". And if that weren't bad enough, Barack pissed away the rest of America's wealth for generations to come....there's no money left over for "global warming adventure capitalists", so you're out of luck and are going to have to find another way to fund your lifestyle. Haven't you heard anyway, a tent will do, that'll reduce your carbon footprint. I just hope we can survive these progressives because if we do, we'll be done with the 60's forever. Thank God, in Jesus' name, AMEN!

These CC people could not save a road killed animal in a hundred years. If the gulf oil disaster happened in 1000 feet of water, it would have been plugged in a few days. If it happened in 300 feet, it would take hours. Why can't the "environmentalist" admit that a lot of their stances produced these situations of "unintended consequences". Just like their stance on Nuclear power for the US. France gets 80% of their electricity from nuclear power. We get less than 20%. If the environmentalists in the 70s hadn't blocked our nuclear technology, we wouldn't have so much coal-based energy. The internet today should serve as a bulwark against such opinions that changed public policy then. Keep the government away from the I-net. It is our last chance at FREE speech.

Ha Ha, You Brits are way behind in real scamming. A measley 9 million pounds? Gore has made around 200 million dollars and he only got a c- in Science. He doesn't have to debate anything because the science is settled. Gore will be a billionaire once Cap & Trade is inacted. Blair is making a mere pittance. Yes and I don't mean to brag, but are crooks are bigger than your crooks. Long live Capitalism! First you need a few decades to infiltrate the press, government and educational system. Once the minions are in place, then you can villify anyone without repercussions. Just a 100,000 pounds for a fifteen minute speech? Clinton gets half a million. Everytime you hear the word Global, the playing field is being set for world dominance by an elite class. Don't forget to condemn hard working folks who pay for everything, not to mention promising to redistribute the wealth to those who don't want to work or are in your country illegally. It really is a simple formula. Common sense is for commoners. Oh, I'm almost forgot, remember to berate anyone that believes in God and equal justice and you too can fly the world in a private jet.

Cap and trade is a way to redistribute corporate wealth and make CCE richer and richer. Also, did I say that Obama is linked to the CCE(Chicage Climate Exchange)? He made contributions to the Joyce Foundation who then makes donations to fund the CCE. Nice huh? Politicians make me laugh. They want to control situations that they cant control and not to control situations that they can. Climate change cannot be controlled, its always occurred and always will. The very people that they are targeting to reduce Co2 emission's such as cement manufacturers are making considerable sums of money out of trading off Carbon Credits. Why don't politicians and ex politicians concentrate on influencing matters that they can influence such as the banks or the worlds financial situation or indeed world poverty and food shortages.

In other words why cant politicians and ex-politicians do something useful for people other than themselves.

I wonder when politicians will admit how many jobs have been lost through their relentless efforts to the lost cause that is the act of mastering climate change. I wonder how long it will be before Britain does not have an Iron & Steel Industry,Cement Industry etc. Maybe my view is not shared by all but there is a real need to review this abnormal mania that is climate change before we all go stark raving mad!!!!

The only failed politicians are those who led the parties in the 2010 election which produced a result where everyone was a loser!!!

And while Gordon Brown left with dignity Cameron and Clegg have developed a Kermit and Miss Piggy love in which can only end in tears!!!
